Locandina Richard Mann

April 26 @ 6:00 pm

No appreciation of Italian language and culture could be complete without an understanding of historic Rome and the ways of the ancient Romans. The rich archaeology of Rome provides extensive information on how the ancient Romans lived, governed, and made community decisions on their civic and private amenities.
Richard Mann is a Sydney-based architect with extensive international experience. His practice at Ecosystem Architecture employs principles of design and building that have foundations in Roman times and beyond. Richard has studied the buildings of ancient Rome, focusing on the human aspects; the people who drew up the plans, arranged permissions and resources, did the construction and made use of these buildings for more than a thousand years. In his presentation, Richard will explain how the old stones and cement (opus caementicium) of Rome yield up secrets of the past , inspire contemporary society and enrich our appreciation of modern Italy.
